Preliminary calculations, heat loss calculations, UFH layouts and BIM connect within one technical workflow. Project information can be built up and developed further, step by step.
Good technical preparation for underfloor heating involves more than drawing pipe circuits.
Calculations, heat demand, system design and digital project information are closely connected in practice. That is why our services are built around four technical disciplines that can be used independently or combined in a logical sequence:
Preliminary calculations → Heat loss calculations → UFH layouts → BIM
From initial calculations to a technical foundation
In the early stages of a project, a clear overview is essential. What material quantities can be expected? How many circuits and manifolds are needed? Which design parameters will guide the further engineering?
Preliminary calculations make this information available early in the project.
This provides a technical foundation for cost estimating, material estimates and further project preparation.
As the project develops, this foundation can be supplemented with a heat loss calculation and then used to develop the underfloor heating design.
Determining heat demand per room
Project-specific sizing requires an understanding of the building’s heat demand.
For a heat loss calculation, we incorporate the relevant architectural and technical data into a digital model. This includes floor areas, building constructions, U-values, room temperatures and other project-specific design parameters.
The result is a clear overview of the calculated heat demand for each room.
This information can then serve as the technical basis for designing the heat distribution system.
From design parameters to a UFH layout
A UFH layout translates the agreed design parameters into a practical, installation-ready underfloor heating design.
For each room, we determine pipe distribution, pipe spacing, circuit arrangements, pipe lengths and manifold positions.
Depending on the selected service level, the design can also account for maximum heat output or the project-specific heat demand.
The resulting layout shows where pipes are installed and provides a design that is technically aligned with the project requirements.
Further development in BIM
When a project is prepared within a BIM environment, the available technical information can be developed further in a BIM model.
Building services geometry and relevant project data are recorded digitally and aligned with the agreed level of detail.
This information can then be used for coordination, verification and model exchange.
BIM can build on information from the preliminary calculations, heat loss calculations and system design.
One connected technical workflow
Each service has its own technical process, but their strength lies in how they connect.
Project information can be developed step by step and carried forward to the next phase:
Preliminary calculations → Heat loss calculations → UFH layouts → BIM
A project does not always need to follow the entire workflow. Each service can also be used independently.
When several services are combined, existing design parameters and project data can be reused. This reduces duplicate data entry and helps keep the engineering consistent throughout the project.
Technical support matched to the project
No two projects follow exactly the same path.
We therefore agree in advance which information is available, which technical engineering is required and which deliverables are appropriate.
This allows us to support projects from the first calculations through to a more developed digital project environment.
